This study is an attempt to determine whether a multifaceted PBS intervention program consisting of positive practice, pre–correction, verbal praise, reinforcement, correction of inappropriate behavior, active supervision, discussion of behavior with students and on–time dismissal could improve student hallway behavior in a rural middle school. The findings support that positive change can be obtained in such non–classroom settings as hallways, passing periods, cafeterias, recess, playgrounds, and arrival at school. What is note worthy about these findings is that rather than merely focusing on an individual or small group intervention, the study points to a success at the macro level.
