Citizens for a Better Greenville will host a live broadcast on WBAD from the Greenville mall where they will be collecting surveys about community members’ experiences with suspensions and expulsions. CBG will also be collecting surveys at the Saturday, October 1st Get Out the Vote rally at the Delta Lodge and the Thursday, October 6th middle school homecoming game.

The MS Coalition for the Prevention of Schoolhouse to Jailhouse and the McComb Youth Council NAACP will host a community round table and educational forum for parents, students and community leaders. The MS Coalition for the Prevention of Schoolhouse to Jailhouse and the McComb Youth Council NAACP will observe the 50th anniversary of the Burglund High School walkout of 1961. Students, parents, civil rights movement veterans and community members will walk, sing, pray, and remember as they follow the route walked by 119 students who bravely left their school on October 4, 1961 to protest the denial of one student’s right to attend a public school. The event will close with a workshop on school pushout.
