Washington, DC: Week of Action 2011
Tuesday, October 4
As part of the DSC National Week of Action on School Pushout, Advocates for Justice and Education will host an open forum on discipline in charter schools for all members of the D.C. charter school community. A panel containing a cross-section of parents, advocates, teachers and administrators will discuss the history of the charter school movement, how charter schools operate in the District, and how discipline policies operate within individual schools. The second half of the forum will be a group discussion with audience members to identify common concerns, priorities and solutions. The goal of the event is to identify agreed-upon best principles and practices that could be included in a model discipline code to be used as a template by charter schools, as well as state boards and agencies charged with governing charter schools.
